Window Tint Aftercare
Your ceramic window tint is installed. The first few days matter most while the film cures. After that, it needs very little care. These instructions follow XPEL’s care guide for PRIME window film, the film we install.
The one rule that matters most
Keep the windows up for 1–5 days, depending on the climate.
5 days
Keep the windows up and don’t clean them yet. We’ll tell you exactly how long for your car.
Up to 10 days
Haze or small moisture bubbles are normal while the tint cures. They clear on their own.
Every clean after
A soft microfiber towel and a non-ammonia glass cleaner. No abrasives, razor blades or scrapers.
01
The first days
XPEL notes that tint may look hazy or show moisture bubbles for up to ten days after installation while it cures. They clear on their own.
Don’t press on, pick at or clean along the edges while the film cures.
02
Cleaning your windows
slightly dampened with water.
Avoid cleaners that contain ammonia.
Don’t use scouring pads, razor blades or anything rough on tinted glass.
Use a clean towel that hasn’t been used on wheels or paint, so it doesn’t drag grit across the film.
03
Avoid
Rolling the windows down before the cure time is up
Ammonia-based glass cleaners and abrasive tools
Sticking suction cups, stickers or tape directly onto the tint
Scraping the inside of the glass with ice scrapers, rings or keys
04
Your warranty
Every tint install comes with our lifetime installation warranty, and XPEL backs the film itself with a transferable lifetime warranty covering bubbling, peeling, cracking and discoloration.
05
When to call us
Call us if bubbles or haze haven’t cleared after the curing period, if an edge lifts, or if the film is scratched or damaged. We’ll take a look.
